Saturday, February 10, 6:45 pm
Gather at Congregation Beth El Norwalk at 6:45 pm for for Havdalah, (the short service that separates the Sabbath from the rest of the week) followed by a film screening of the Disney movie Ruby Bridges. Ruby was the first Black student to desegregate an all-white elementary school in New Orleans. Admission is a $10 suggested donation, and all proceeds will be donated to the George Washington Carver center in Norwalk,  a well-established Norwalk non-profit that addresses the opportunity gap of school children.  But any and all donations will be accepted and appreciated! All popcorn, sodas, and candy will be included!  There will also have dessert and coffee following the movie, while during a moderated discussion about the themes of the film, and how we can be better allies to other marginalized communities.  Pastor Tamara Moreland of First Congregational Church and Rabbi Ita Paskind of Beth El-Norwalk will lead a discussion after the move. More details and register HERE.
