Thursday Watch

On the night of the first Holy Eucharist (Maundy Thursday) Jesus went to the Garden and prayed for strength to accept what was going to happen next. He asked His apostles to sit, pray and watch with Him “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here and watch” Matthew 26:48 After the Altar and Church are stripped on Maundy Thursday, the Sacrament is brought in procession to the Lady Chapel, where is placed on the Altar of Repose, to remind us of that evening in the Garden of Gethsemane. That evening, remain or return to the Lady Chapel between 9 pm and 7 am and keep watch with the Maundy Thursday Watch. The watch will end with a brief service of Morning Prayer at 7 am.
