Concerts for our Time (canceled)

March 15, 2020 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

All activities on campus are temporarily suspended due to COVID-19. For more information, please visit http://www.stpaulsnorwalk.org/response-to-covid-19/.

Olivier Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time, written while the groundbreaking French composer was a prisoner of war during World War II, was born out of a miraculous collision of diverse influences, political ideologies and religious beliefs under the most unlikely circumstances. “Miraculous Convergence” will chronicle the amazing story of the quartet and the people who brought it to life, as well as the contemporary resonances of this timeless music. Featuring the Center for Musical Excellence: Min Kwon, Graeme Steele Johnson, Suliman Tekalli and Ari Evan.

The Concerts For Our Time series looks to expand on the usual subjects and composers we hear in performance, in order to challenge the listener and explore those voices that are most relevant to us today. Sponsored by Seabury Academy of Music and the Arts, the nonprofit-in-residence at St. Paul’s, these concerts seek to explore the shared mission of St. Paul’s and Seabury of making exceptional music available to all people.

The Concerts for our Time series will support causes chosen by the performers in line with the mission of their programs. All proceeds beyond the cost of the series will go to benefit those causes.
