St. Paul’s on the Green stands with our colleague and friend Leonel Chávez, who was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement in South Norwalk on Friday, August 15.
Leonel is a custodian at St. Paul’s and is a trusted part of our parish family. In keeping with the Episcopal Church’s commitment to the dignity and inherent worth of every person, we call for humane treatment, due process, and transparency regarding Leonel’s case.
We are in contact with his family and community partners and will share verified updates as we receive them.
We invite the community to light a candle in the sanctuary of St. Paul's on the Green at 1 pm before attending a peaceful rally on Saturday, August 23, 1:30pm on the Norwalk Green.
