Mid-Day Music: Circe’s Consort
April 22 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
It was Luzzasco Luzzaschi, writing in the late 16th century for the famed three ladies of Ferrara, who first proved that female musicians could perform at the apex of their profession. Some fifty years later, Barbara Strozzi, the illegimate daughter of a Venentian courtier was simply too talented NOT to be educated and took up the gauntlet. Addy Sterrett, soprano and Annalisa Ewald, Baroque guitar revel in their accomplishments and share some of their favorite works with you in this program.
This concert comes to St. Paul’s as part of a monthly series hosted by our nonprofit partner, Seabury Academy of Music and the Arts, Inc.
