Our acolyte program begins when children are as young as six. The word acolyte means “one who serves.” Young people are trained to assist in worship services. Our younger acolytes begin as boat bearers (carrying the holder of the incense for the thurifer). Acolytes assist by being torchbearers, lighting and putting out the candles, and assisting the priest or deacon at the altar.
